7th Beat Diabetes Walkathon kick off today

7th Beat Diabetes walkathon kick off today at Zabeel Park, Dubai with the huge turnout. The event is organized by Landmark Group, the region's leading retail and hospitality conglomerate. The initiative aims to take on a broader mandate apart from raising awareness on the condition. As part of Landmark Group's pledge to driving diabetes research in the UAE, the walkathon was charged a nominal participation fee of AED20 per head and all collection from registration will proceed to  Al Jalila Foundation to raise funds to support diabetes research and healthcare in the UAE.

Registrations was be conducted through the online portal www.beatdiabetes.me  and on the entrance of Zabeel Park on the day of the Event. All registered participants received the walkathon kit comprising a Beat Diabetes T-shirt and cap and serial no.

The walkathon spans a distance of approximately 1.8 kilometres around the circumference of the Zabeel Park boundary. A host of family-centric activities was be built around the walkathon, featuring games, healthly food kiosks, free blood glucose screening ,live entertainment and Zumba Dance Workout 

Globally, 14 November is observed as the Diabetes Awareness Day with a series of events marked worldwide to raise awareness on the condition. Under the Landmark Group's Beat Diabetes initiative, the walkathon is held across seven countries over the months of November and December as a culmination of a year-long calendar of activities.

A day at Saadiyat Public Beach

It was a wonderful experience hanging out in Saadiyat Public Beach with friends during weekend. The beach was almost full even thou during hot summer. We really had some wonderful time swimming and photo and video sessions in Saadiyat Public Beach. It is better to rent sun loungers and umbrella to protect from sun during summer.

Saadiyat Public Beach is situated in Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi. It is one of the best Beaches in Abu Dhabi. It opens from 8 am till sun set.  The entry fee is AED 25 for adults and AED 15 for children over six years old. Children aged 5 and below entry are free. An entrance fee of AED 50 on weekdays and AED 75 on weekends and public holidays secures you an umbrella and a sun-lounger.

Ghantu is very rare dance performed by Gurung, Magar, Dura and Kumal, in Western Part of Nepal. There are three types of Ghantu.Ghantu
Barha Maase Ghantu’
Sati Ghantu
Kusunda Ghantu
Barsha Maase Ghantu can be performed at any time of year but Sati Ghantu and Kusunda Ghantu need to performed during the specific time.

It is believed when Nepal was ruled by various kings, There was a king named Parasar and his wife Ambawati. They lived a fairy tale life until one day; the king had to go to a war. Assuring his wife that he would return soon, unfortunately, he was killed in battle. But wife refused to believe it Even on seeing her husband’s dead body.

2 July 2011: It was an exciting day for me as I was tuning online radios and browsing our national dailies to see our players performance against East Timor from my office. I felt great and proud to see Anil Gurung scoring a goal in 3rd Minute in penalty in myrepublica.com in headlines. But was quite restless till the end of the first half as they couldn't score any goals. But when I tuned the Radio Kantipur on the second half I heard our player has already scored 2nd and 3rd goal on 55th and 59th minute by Bhola silwal and Jumanu Rai.

It's almost that time of the year when we say goodbye to Nepali Year BS 2067 and welcome Nepali New Year BS 2068. It is known as "Navavarsha" in Nepal.

India have won cricket's World Cup after 28 years with a victory over Sri Lanka by six wicket at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday. India sparked wild celebrations among their billion supporters after winning the world Cup for the second time. After Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and opted to bat first, Mahela Jayawardene smashed 103 not out off just 88 balls and featured in half-century stands with Sangakkara (48), Thilan Samaraweera (21) and Nuwan Kulasekara (32) to take Sri Lanka to 274-6.
